How Do I Like Thee?
Getting over the hump
By Ken DuBois

Does my heart swell for you, does it pound out terrifically?
Well, no, not exactly. I mean, not specifically
It’s less of a swelling, and more like a clot
Is it love that I feel? No, let’s face it, it’s not

It’s more like a crush and I know how I am
I’ll trail you around for a month, then I’ll scram
I’ll hang at your house, never give you a break
Then complain to my buddies, "How much can I take?"

So that’s why I’m laying it on kind of thickly
I’m hoping I won’t just get sick of you quickly
So let’s work together! I have some suggestions
Some things you could do. Then I’ll take your questions

Tolerance is lacking these days, don’t you think?
The comments about what a person might drink
Or how a guy dresses, or whether he’s showered
And hurt words like weasel or cheapskate or coward

Let’s throw out the negative, see what that gleans
(Though I’m not a hundred percent sure what that means)
And don’t bother asking about my I.Q.
I’m not Alfred Einstein. So what. You’re not too.

It’s action that totally matters, not talk
Just look at Steve Austin, The Hulk and The Rock
Those guys make the bucks. Yeah, they’ve got a lot of it
That’s a really good example. I’m glad that I thought of it.

So you get my point. What was it? Remind me
Oh yeah, about putting the bad vibes behind me
‘Bout criticism and how I’m so sure you won’t do it
Like all my past girlfriends. They totally blew it

So let our like blossom, don’t make it go wrong
And do what you can so that we get along
I’ll call you my sweetheart, or bunny, or dear
I do care about you, (fill your name in here).
