Out of Sites: Career Edition
Good web sites or good laughs? Find them both here.
by Jeff Gores

Eat My Shorts
This site is put together by retail workers who like to bitch about their jobs. Some of you might not relate to this site if you have never worked retail, but if you have, this site hits home. In the past I’ve hawked super hip clothes and CDs at the mall and car stereos at a "cool" car electronics store. I have since then vowed to never whore myself out to convince unsuspecting customers that they need the shit that I am selling. Today, I choose to whore myself in other ways.

Bosses Suck
This site explains the rules of corporate life, and probably illuminates a thing or two about non-corporate life as well. Some of it is funny, some of it might hit home, and some of it is just plain stupid. But if you have actually been reading this column, as well as Anvil, then you have the time and intellect to enjoy this site.

Career Change
Ok, I know what you’ll think when you follow this link: "this site isn’t funny." Yes, I am actually putting a site in this column that is serious, and might help some of y’all out there who are looking for a career change, either by your own will or one imposed on you.

Career Change?
This site is pretty much just text, but in my opinion, it has the most comprehensive information on how to successfully transition from an Account Executive at a PR agency to the best damn stripper in town. I just wish I would have had access to this site before I fell out of my prime. It would have prevented me from making the mistakes of my past.

Hard On Humor
I am not sure I want to find my job at BlueBall.com. That is just one job I would prefer to avoid. That is about all I have to say about this site. Maybe they should look into a name change and re-brand themselves. I can just imagine their slogan now "Can’t get sex? Then try getting a job!"

Aspirations
I want to work my way up to middle management, and when I do I plan on joining this association. I know, I set lofty goals, but I am positive I can achieve it. This group is one way that I can achieve middle management. They are there watching my back, with tips and information to guide me in the right decisions that face a middle manager. Check out the site and be prepared to step out of the mailroom.

When not laying face down in a gutter, Jeff prefers to be doing the finer things in life... playing air guitar to "Metal Health" and slammin’ down forties of PBR.
